Palette from Image

Pull a color palette out of any image.

About this tool

Drop in a screenshot, product photo, or reference image and get back the dominant colours with their HEX values. Useful for matching a page to an image you have to use, or lifting a palette from something whose colours already work.

The image is read on a canvas in your browser and never uploaded.

Common questions

How are the colours chosen?

By clustering the pixels and returning the most populous groups, so the result reflects how much of the image each colour actually covers — not the most vivid colours present. A large muted background will outrank a small bright accent.

Can I use these colours directly in a design?

Use them as a starting point rather than a finished palette. Extracted colours are rarely balanced for contrast, so check any pair you intend to use as text-on-background before committing.

Why do I get several near-identical colours?

Photographs and gradients contain thousands of slightly different shades, so clusters can land close together. Pick one from each group and discard the neighbours — a working palette is usually five or six colours, not twenty.
