Why use our extension

10x Faster

Create demos in 3 minutes instead of 30. Record by clicking through your product.

Auto-Hotspots

Hotspots are automatically placed where you click. No manual positioning required.

Edit Anytime

After recording, edit tooltips, reorder steps, blur sensitive data, and publish.

How to install & use

1

Add to Chrome from the Web Store

Click "Add to Chrome — it's free" above. A dialog will appear asking to confirm permissions — click "Add extension." It installs in a few seconds with no download or restart required.

Works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi — any Chromium-based browser.

2

Pin it to your toolbar

After installing, the extension is hidden in the overflow menu by default. Pin it so you can reach it with one click:

  1. aLook for the puzzle piece icon in the top-right corner of Chrome, to the right of the address bar. Click it.
  2. bA dropdown appears showing all your installed extensions. Find "createademo — Record Interactive Demos" in the list.
  3. cClick the pin icon to the right of createademo. It turns blue when pinned.
  4. dThe createademo "C" logo now appears directly in your toolbar next to the address bar. You can click it from any tab.
Tip: On Edge or Brave the Extensions icon looks slightly different but the process is identical — look for the puzzle piece or grid icon.
3

Sign in to createademo

The extension uploads your recordings to your account, so you need to be signed in first.

  1. aGo to createademo.com/signin and sign in to your account (or create one free — takes 30 seconds).
  2. bClick the createademo icon in your toolbar. The popup will show your account name, confirming you're connected.
4

Start recording

Navigate to the website or app you want to demo. Then:

  1. aClick the createademo icon in your toolbar to open the popup.
  2. bPick a mode — Screenshots or Full video. Recording starts immediately, and a red REC badge appears on the extension icon to confirm it's active.
  3. cClick through your product normally. Every click marks a step — in Screenshots mode each step is captured as an image; in Full video mode your session is recorded and a frame is pulled at each click. You'll see a brief green flash after each capture.
  4. dNavigate between pages freely — recording continues across page loads automatically. The step count in the extension icon badge updates as you go.
  5. eWhen you're done, click the createademo icon again and hit "Stop & Save."
Good to know: Each screenshot shows the state at the moment you clicked — before the action takes effect. A button that opens a dropdown will show the closed state, for example. This is intentional and works well for guided demos.
5

Edit and publish

After stopping, your recording uploads automatically and the demo editor opens. From there you can:

  • Add or edit tooltip text on any hotspot to guide viewers
  • Blur sensitive information (passwords, personal data, internal URLs)
  • Reorder, duplicate, or delete steps
  • Add zoom & spotlight to highlight specific areas
  • Record audio narration and add branching paths
  • Personalize per prospect with dynamic variables
  • Trim video clips per step to remove pauses or wrong turns
  • Publish and share via link or embed on any page

That's it — 2 minutes from install to published demo

No timeline editing. No manual screenshotting. No design skills required.

Frequently asked questions

I installed it but don’t see it in the toolbar — what do I do?

It's hidden in the extensions overflow menu by default. Click the puzzle piece icon in the top-right corner of Chrome, find createademo in the list, and click the pin icon to the right. It will then appear permanently in your toolbar.

Do I need to be logged in to use the extension?

Yes — the extension uploads your recordings to your createademo account. Make sure you're signed in at createademo.com/signin before starting a recording. If the popup shows a "Sign in" button, visit the site first to log in.

Can I record demos of any website?

Yes — any website accessible in your browser. Your own product, a competitor's UI, a web app, anything. The extension works on every page including pages that require login.

Does this work on Edge, Brave, or other browsers?

Yes — any Chromium-based browser including Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. Install from the Chrome Web Store and follow the same steps. Firefox is not currently supported.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Recordings are captured locally in your browser tab and uploaded only to your createademo account. The extension never sends data to third parties and only communicates with createademo.com.
